Julie completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University of Montreal. During these three years, she has received the mention of excellence from the dean of the Faculty of Arts and Science. Since the beginning of her studies in psychology she had a keen interest in neuropsychology and oncology motivating her to join the NED laboratory, specifically the PÉTALE project, a multidisciplinary research program investigating long-term consequences of acute lymphoblastic leukemia treatments during childhood. During this period, Julie also worked as research coordinator for the couples and relationship research laboratory at the University of Montreal on the study ‘parents of little fighters: living with pediatric cancer’ trying to understand individual and conjugal factors contributing to the adaptation and well-being of couples confronted with a cancer diagnosis in their child as well as the impact of the illness on their conjugal life. In connection with her research, Julie has established a knowledge transfer project for couples with a child diagnosed with cancer. Simultaneously, Julie was involved in the department of psychology at Jean-de-Brébeuf College where she worked as laboratory technician and psychosocial worker. Julie has an extensive background in research, clinical work and mentoring college students. Since 2011 Julie also diligently volunteers for Leucan, supporting and accompanying children diagnosed with cancer and their families during treatment and remission on a weekly basis at the Charles-Bruneau cancer center and at external activities organized by the association. As a PhD student in neuropsychology, option research and intervention, Julie investigates genetic and neuroanatomical biomarkers of late neurocognitive effects in leucemia survivors.
